Activity from a Substitute Teacher
I wanted to share another end of term idea with you that I picked up yesterday a Mercer Middle School here in Loudoun County, VA. The class was asked to come up with two suggestions for the Principal on how things could be improved at Mercer MS. They were to write a paragraph (five to eight sentences) on each one and to state why they thought their idea was a good one.
There were the inevitable ones such as, no dress code, longer lunch hours, more ice cream, better food in the cafeteria, etc. But there were also some very good ones such as:
- Selling the tvs and overhead projectors that were no longer needed since we have the white boards now.
- Following the high school schedule for exams week. Take the exam and then go home instead of staying all day.
- Buying a school t-shirt for all students (PTA or money from the sale of tvs) at the beginning of the school year and having them worn every Friday (Friday is dress down day anyway).
