Would You Do Your Job for Free?
This last week I had the chance to listen to a retired high school principal speak. His energy and enthusiasm for the classroom was very apparent. He said something that has stuck with me and I have thought about it a lot the last few days.
He was talking about how in the course of his career he had hired and interviews hundreds of teachers. During his presentation he said this, "With each of those interviews, I was looking for someone who had enthusiasm for the classroom. I was looking for someone who would do this job even if they weren't getting paid."
What a powerful statement.
What do you do to keep enthusiasm for substitute teaching?
