A New Look At Free Tutoring
Have you ever heard of the Kahn Academy? I just learned of it recently and I'm so impressed with the idea behind it. Salman Kahn, from a closet in his home in California, records 10-12 minute videos and posts them on YouTube. These videos explain anything from Chemistry to Pre-Algebra concepts.
Student have said they love watching these videos because they go at a pace better suited for their learning. Because students can't press stop and rewind on their teachers in the classroom, sometimes it's hard for them to grasp concepts. But because the Kahn Academy videos are always available and very short, they have helped increase student understanding.
In an article released a few days ago, it states that Sal Kahn is Bill Gates favorite teacher. Kahn has been doing these videos for free but recently has been offered
I'm personally moved by this because it shows that when we think outside of the box, there are unlimited ways we can personally help educate the students of the United States.
